Coffee Buttercream


coffee 1 - Coffee Buttercream Frosting


  • 1 cup Butter, at room temp.
  • 3 1/2–4 Cups Powdered Sugar, sifted, depending on how sweet/thick you want
  • 1 Tablespoon Instant coffee (adjust amount to your preference less or more)
  • 1 Tablespoon Hot water (more or less depending on how strong you want the coffee flavor)
  • 2 Tablespoons Heavy Cream


  1. Beat with paddle attachment for 5 minutes, until light and fluffy.
  2. Sieve the powdered sugar to prevent any lumps
  3. Add half to butter
  4. Beat for 5 minutes
  5. Add the remaining powdered sugar
  6. Mix for 3 minutes
  7. In a small bowl add instant coffee and hot water
  8. Add the coffee mixture to frosting with heavy cream
  9. Beat for 3 minutes
  10. Spread or pipe frosting.
  11. Store in the fridge for up to 7 days, let come to room temperature and mix before using.
