How Not to: Frosting Royal Icing Sugar Cookies
My first attempt at frosting royal icing sugar cookies. The visible errors are:
- Frosting consistency for flooding the cookie was not correct. The drips from the spoon when testing it were not thin enough, thus the indents in the frosting.
- Tips on frosting. I needed to smooth out the tiny tips that showed up in the frosting.
- Decorating Edges of flooded areas. Very shaky hand. I eventually started holding my wrist to make it more stable.
Not to worry though, it made my grandchildren’s day being able to eat “bunny butts”. My 4-year-old granddaughter said to me that these cookies “made her day great”!
What would I do different, other than practice–find a better royal icing recipe. Tried to use lemon infusion, no taste. Added vanilla, but the powder sugar had too much taste.
