How Not to: Frosting Royal Icing Sugar Cookies

My first attempt at frosting royal icing sugar cookies. The visible errors are:

  1. Frosting consistency for flooding the cookie was not correct. The drips from the spoon when testing it were not thin enough, thus the indents in the frosting.
  2. Tips on frosting. I needed to smooth out the tiny tips that showed up in the frosting.
  3. Decorating Edges of flooded areas. Very shaky hand. I eventually started holding my wrist to make it more stable.

Not to worry though, it made my grandchildren’s day being able to eat “bunny butts”. My 4-year-old granddaughter said to me that these cookies “made her day great”!

What would I do different, other than practice–find a better royal icing recipe. Tried to use lemon infusion, no taste. Added vanilla, but the powder sugar had too much taste.
